Sripathi Panditaradhyula Balasubrahmanyam, affectionately called Balu, is a prolific film playback singer and actor. An incredible range, deep rich voice, exemplary technique and amazing control are his defining traits. He holds the Guinness World record of having sung the largest number of songs (40000) in more than five different languages - Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Hindi and Malayalam.

SP Balasubrahmanyam took to singing as a hobby as a child & he learnt to play instruments by himself by just listening to his father.

Recipient of many awards like National Film Awards across four languages as well as numerous state awards from Tamil Nadu and Karnataka, SP Balasubrahmanyam also acted in several movies both in full-fledged protagonist roles and cameos.

He is also a recipient of civilian awards such as the Padma Shri (2001) and Padma Bhushan (2011) from the Government of India.
