Highlights of the day

 

 

1st  & 2nd  December 2009

 

  1. Veteran Actor Soumitra Chatterjee and Sharmila Tagore addressed a Press Conference. It was very well attended and well covered by the Media.
  2. Veteran Actress Rati Agnihotri came for screening of Indian Panorama Film “AAINAATE”. She was given Red Carpet Welcome.
  3. Goa as Celluloid Destination” started with screening of film “Hello Gandesar”.
  4. The screening in the Cinema of the World and various retrospectives continued. Two famous Iranian Directors visited the Festival and presented their Films namely Mr. Rasoul Sadrameli and Mr. Abbas Rafei.
  5. Famous Film Director from Georgia, George Ovashvili visited the Festival and presented his film “Other Bank”, which is in International Competition.
  6. Iranian Film “Granaz” was presented to the audience by Director Abbas Rafei. The film is in the Competition.
  7. The screening of the film “A Prophet” by Jacques Audiard received wide acclaim and huge audience in Kala Academy .
  8. Sir  Ben Kingsley was felicitated with a Citation and Memento. In the morning, he took a Master Class with Directors and Actors, which was well attended.

 

30th  November 2009

 

  1. The Golden Jubilee Retrospective of Sharmila Tagore and Soumitra Chatterjee was inaugurated in INOX II. Both the artistes were present and felicitated on the occasion. Felicitation was followed by Opening film “APUR SANSAR”. The Red Carpet welcome was given to Sharmila Tagore and Soumitra Chatterjee.
  2. Press Conferences were organized for the popular films of the Festival. “The Sky We Were Born Under” ( Brazil ), “4,3,2, One” ( Argentina ) and “The Prize” ( Peru ). It was attended by Fernando Severo (Director) and Carolina Holanda (Actress). These artistes were given Red Carpet welcome.
  3. Nomadic Orchestra comprising of Nomadic Artistes performed in INOX.
  4. Sir Ben Kingsley   addressed a Press Conference which was very well attended.
  5. Aftab Shivdasani, Riya Sen, Madhur Bhandarkar, Vishal Bhardwaj, Jaimala and Rituparna Sengupta visited the Festival and  were given Red Carpet welcome.
  6. “We can do that” took place which was very well acclaimed. Another Indian film “Gabhricha Paus” in Indian section got wide acclaim.

A Press Conference was addressed by directors and Actors of the film. They were also given Red Carpet welcome.

 

 

28th  & 29th November 2009

 

  1. The films in Cinema of the World and International competition attracted huge crowd and there was constant demand of tickets.

    Questions & Answer session  was organized almost everyday.

  2. A premier of RED ALERT was organized which was attended by Actor Sunil Shetty and Actress Seema Biswas besides Director Ananth Mahadevan.

  3. Indian Panoroma Film "ANTAHEEN" was screened in the presence of Film Actor Rahul Bose and Actress Mita Vashisht. There was Questions & Answer session with Rahul Bose

  4. A talk was organized on Film India Worldwide and NRI Films which was attended by film makers who came for film India Worldwide Section.

  5. Sir Ben Kingsley arrived on 29th  November 2009 evening. He will address a Press Conference on 30th  November 2009 and other programmes including a Master Class on 1st  December 2009.

  6. Mid-fest Press Conference was taken by director, DFF and CEO, ESG which was very well attended followed by Questions & Answer session with the Media. The details of Closing Ceremony were also announced.

 

27th November 2009

 

  1. IFFI 2009 continued with lots of films and participation.
  2. Red Carpet welcome was given to Asha Parikh, Prem Chopra and Shammi. Retrospective of renowned actress Asha Parikh was inaugurated today with opening film  ‘DIL DEKE DEKHO’.  
  3. Veteran director of Poland Krzystof  Zanussi walked the red carpet. 
  4. A combined Press meet of eminent Directors  Shaji  N. Karun, M. S Sathyu and Rituparno Ghosh was organised.
  5. Red Carpet welcome was given to Musical maestros Ustad Amjad Ali khan, Pandit  Ramnarayan and Gulzar.
  6. Retrospective of Gurinder Chadha and Pedro Almodovar continued.
  7. DFF dinner was organised which was attended by 613 persons including Indian and Foreign Delegates, Govt. Officials, Media and  other  distinguished personalities.  

 26th November 2009

 

  1. Platinum jubilee of Assamese Cinema inaugurated. Opening film ‘Joymoti’.

 

  1. Retrospectives of noted film directors  Nonzee  Nimibutr from Thailand and Roland Reber from Germany began.

 

  1. Film India worldwide section started with opening film ‘Bombay Summer’.
